Uusien hiilivoimaloiden rakentaminen ilmastokriisin aikakaudella ei ole vaihtoehto.
Tuomitsemme yhdessä Saksan vihreiden nuorten kanssa uuden hiilivoimalan Datteln 4 avaamisen Saksassa. Suomen valtio-omisteinen yhtiö Fortum omistaa kohta enemmistön Uniperista, joka on vastuussa Datteln 4 voimalan rakentamisesta sekä massiivisista hiili- ja kaasuomistuksista.
Suomen hallituksen on oltava johdonmukainen ja varmistettava, että Fortum noudattaa Suomen hiilestä luopumisen aikataulua myös toiminnassaan ulkomailla. Datteln 4 voimalan käynnistäminen on pystäytettävä ja Fortumin tulee laatia suunnitelma hiilestä luopumiseksi vuoteen 2030 mennessä Pariisin sopimuksen tavoitteiden mukaisesti

Together with the German Young Greens (Grüne Jugend) we condemn the plans of opening the new coal power plant Datteln 4 in Germany. The Finnish state owned company Fortum soon owns a majority share of Uniper which is responsible for Datteln 4 and owns enormous coal and gas assets.
The Finnish Government must take responsibility for Fortum’s coal investments and the German government must stay true to its coal phase out. Building more coal-fired power plants is not an option in the time of climate crisis.
The Finnish government needs to show consistency by ensuring that Fortum respects the Finnish coal phase-out timeline in its operations abroad. The commissioning of Datteln 4 has to be stopped. Fortum should develop a decommissioning plan to retire and close its coal assets by 2030 in accordance with the Paris Agreement
